Musicathon 2016 -  Saturday April 16, 9am to 5pm. St. James Church, Fenelon Falls

Come one, come all who have an enthusiasm for our local musical talent and want to support a good cause. The Fenelon Falls Grannies for Grannies have arranged a fun and fulfilling day for you. The event will take place from 9am to 5pm. It is run on the same principle as the Terry Fox Run. It is the talented, energetic, generous musicians who bring the pledges to support the cause.  Grannies for Grannies, our local Fenelon Falls chapter, is part of the Stephen Lewis foundation, Grandmothers’ Campaign.

The Stephen Lewis foundation supports community based organizations that are turning the tide of HIV/AIDS in Africa by providing care to women, grandmothers, orphans and people living with HIV and AIDS. In 2008 the foundation reached over 200,000 children. The money goes directly to the grassroots, to communities hardest hit by the pandemic.

Come, see and hear the wide variety of talent that Marg Chalmers, the Grannies’ musical director has drawn from the City of Kawartha Lakes. Be moved by an earthy jazz singer, encourage child performers tinkling out their first few notes; be inspired by 30 voice choir; move to the beat of a full brass band; clog dance with Celtic fiddlers and pound out the beat in an African drum circle.  Come for an hour to support your favourite performer or make a whole day of it. This is the Grannies eighth annual Musicathon and it is bigger and better than ever! Watch in Kawartha Lakes this Week newspaper for the full performer schedule. Refreshments are available.  Audience admission by donation.

For further information contact Marg Chalmers at  (705) 887-2675 or email granniesforgranniesmusicathon@gmail.com
