Message from the Executive Director
Dear Friends,
The Stephen Lewis Foundation is astounded and moved by the response of Canadians to our work. There have been so many projects, large and small, modest and wildly ambitious, cautiously earnest and absurdly inventive, right across the country to raise funds for HIV/AIDS in Africa, benefiting the Stephen Lewis Foundation. And, naturally, we are happy to encourage and provide information to those individuals wishing to support us by offering their considerable time and enthusiasm to organize an event or community initiative.
There are some important regulations that we, and you, must follow. Please read through the 'Foundation Involvement' and 'Event Planning FAQ' sections for full details. You will notice that these regulations affect our capacity to assist you in your fundraising and also affect how we are able to be the beneficiary of your efforts.
We've gathered a lot of information from fundraising experiences over the past couple of years that we expect will be useful to you. Those experiences helped shape this Plan Events resource -- which answers many questions routinely asked by people who want to put on different types of events in order to raise money for the Foundation. Once we have made contact with you, we can also provide materials about the Foundation for your event and information about the group(s) to whom the contributions will be sent in Africa.
Please review the 'Foundation Involvement' and 'Donations & Receipts FAQ' sections that follow on the left navigation. They provide critical information about what we need from you and what the Foundation can or cannot do in relation to your event. Also found in this section is the 'Event Letter of Understanding' which we request you read, print, sign and fax back to us following your contact with the Foundation.
