I had attended an ‘accessory party’ in February at the home of a business acquaintance, & found the products unusual & affordable. I thought it would be fun to show friends these lovely things but not benefit from hosting it myself.
I am a British Canadian, but my parents live in South Africa. Over the years during my visits I have been made aware of the plight of many under privileged South Africans, & I have helped with other charities through my father’s involvement in Rotary. In the past couple of years I have been sending small packages of baby clothes & children’s hats to my parents, to deliver to a local church charity supporting AIDS orphans.
Last May our University Womens Club had a breakfast meeting that Ilana Landsberg-Lewis attended. Also, last Fall, our club supported World Vision, whose projects were brought to our attention by a local teacher volunteer, who had been a speaker at one of our monthly meetings.
All I did was put out lots of invitations to my accessories party, opened my house for an afternoon & my guests did the rest! I had a small table set aside with information about the Go Go Grannies project, & between sales & donations I was able to send a decent donation, in spite of an unseasonal April snowfall.
