Our team verifies that the organization:

• Is a registered community-based organization (CBO) or non-governmental organization (NGO), and can provide a copy of a government-issued letter or registration certificate confirming the organization’s status, and/or a fundraising or registration number.
• Has a bank account, or access to the bank account of an accredited NGO that is working on behalf of your organization.
• Demonstrates commitment to the principles of non-discrimination, with particular focus on equity and equality for women, LGBTIQ communities, and people living with HIV and AIDS.
• Has a functioning board, steering committee and/or leadership structure that includes women and people living with HIV and AIDS, or LGBTIQ individuals.
• Engages in community-based activities addressing one or more of areas of focus for the SLF. Review our Areas of Work.
• Invests in, and is accountable to, the communities in which the organization operates.

Our team verifies that the project:

• Is community-based, and working at the grassroots level.
• Actively seeks opportunities to improve the lives of women and girls in their own communities and larger society.
• Focusses on the expressed interests, hopes, aspirations, and needs of communities most affected.
• Actively provides opportunities for community members to participate to the fullest extent of their capacities, throughout planning, decision-making, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the project’s activities.
• Holistically integrates HIV care, treatment, and prevention approaches.
